Title : (Hear our desperate cries and broken spirits.)
Rarely have I ever sleep for more than 8 hours. Today, I must say, is a reasonable exception! Haha. Just came back from YouthAlive Believe Camp'11! It was a blast!
22th:
Woke up early on Wednesday morning, and got all my gear ready. Cabbed down to GEC with Jit and YouRong. Then went shopping for gifts and, ahem, supper. :x
After that, headed up to Canaan Centre and met up with the worship team! Sat down and prayed hard for the worship, the services and the camp in general. The Spirit really moved then. (:
Headed down for lunch after that, before lugging all our things to the coach. Bus-ed with the Zone 4 and 1 people!
Our destination was Johor Malaysia, Austin Hills! Reached there at about 3 plus in the afternoon. The rooms were HUGE. I wish my room was that big haha. Bunked with ZhanRong and TianJie!
Had icebreaker games after that. Had quite a lot of fun! Everyone got to know each other better.
Played for the first night's (supposed) WYA session. Could sense that everyone lacked God in some aspect or another... And that pretty much hindered everybody from going deeper into worship. Was pretty disappointed with my playing, to be honest ): Didn't feel too confident afterward.
After that, headed back to our rooms. Went to one of the rooms for games with Zone 4! Good fun, good fun. All the nights man! Haha. Went back to our room at around 1 plus I think!
23th:
Thursday morning! Woke up at 7.15. TianJie went into the toilet and came out without even brushing his teeth or doing any business. Hahahaha zai (Y)
After that met for devotion and breakfast, before service and outdoor games!
Outdoor games were fun. The human table soccer game was pretty hiong though! Then we had some water bomb passing game. I didn't play! SO SAD. Hahaha. But it was hilarious watching them pass the bombs and getting intercepted. All of them were drenched manz
Then we had some roll-in-detergent-squeeze-water-into-pail game, kinda like a water relay. Watching people desperately trying to sponge up as much water and getting disorientated and muddy water in their mouths made me feel... Happy. HAHA
I'm joking. I love people.
After taking a dip in the water (if you even count it as water), I was all grassy, muddy and a tad bit soapy.
And I drank some of it. Ah ah siol.
Washed up and went back down for indoor games!
Indoor games were fun! Jupiter pwned the Bob the Builder and the Mastermind station! PUMP IT UP SHAKE IT UP HYPE IT UP JUPITERRRRRRRR
Played the Bob the Builder station twice. With my architecture expertise (and God's anointing wahaha), we WON it twice!! Haha. Built the most outlandish slipper holder and the tallest tower. EVER. Everyone marveled at it. At least I THINK everyone did. Praise God!! LOL
Part of our little tower became our planet flag. So honoured now (Y)
Then the losers played charades for cake. Jupiter was too awesome to play charades. Ha.
Dude I'm just joking! Don't gimme that face
After that was dinner and service, if I remember correctly. Then we had our nightwalk! Walked around the golf course of Austin Hills. Beautiful (: The night made it look mysterious. But the spotlights lit up the place beautifully.
Trekked it with Daryl! Debbie and Faith joined us afterward. They walked in front while we bodyguarded from the back haha.
Daryl is awesome to go for a nightwalk with!!! He's like super bold, and even though he's not totally scare-proof, he's just calm and collected.
COURSE. He's my CL :D
After that, had some cake, before heading back to our rooms.
I didn't eat any. DUH
Then met up with Zone 4 at one of the rooms again! This time we ordered PIZZA!! Had two slices of it, a drumlet and a cup of noodles. YUM.
I'm fat. ANYWAYS
Talked a little bit, played some games and then while the rest were having a mini concert, some of us went to the other room to watch some of the guys brawl and do bed acrobatics. David and Samuel were there, too :D
Headed to bed at 3 (:
24th:
Woke up in da mornin' feelin' like P Diddy.
Went down for service, before going for recreational time! While the others went for paintball, bowling, pool, yada yada yada... ZR and I went to gallop at the golf course. Then we slacked in the room for a while, before going to the paintball field to see some KICKASS ACTION.
It was pretty cool. The girls were brave. \m/
Then went back for lunch, and then it was ALL. OUT. WARRRRRRR
Had our inter-planet war games in the afternoon! It was hot like heck, the field was muddy and spiky, but it was a BLAST.
We didn't win though. We finished in last place. BUT THAT'S NOT THE POINT.
Had an amazing time! :D Some people were really tooty but I forgave them. So knight-like right thanks.
Our initial alliances were destroyed. All the talk about loyalty and knighthoodness. Gone. Down. The. Drain.
....BWAHAHA who cares it's all in the name of funnnn :D
Well after that we were all drained. But we took a group picture anyways. :D My favourite part of the camp!! Haha
NOT because I like taking pictures. It's just... That feeling. Y'know?
'Course you don't. You newb.
I'm joking.
Washed up, and headed down for service and supposed mass bowling! We didn't bowl though. Some of us stayed back at the hall and jammed! We were really crappy but the atmosphere was great!
Then went back to the room with ZR. Jay Huang joined us a while laterrr
Went to the meetup room again afterward. Slacked a little, talked, chatted, leaked secrets... Ooooh we're soooo gangsta
Aaron Leong, Joshua Wee and GabNg pranked us. Then I went over to their room for awhile, where Andre and Samuel were also there. You guys are so hilarious! AH AH SIOL
Alright. This next part was the highlight of the camp, to me. I hope there isn't a word limit for blogger, 'cus this is gonna be kinda long.
There we were, 6 of us: David, Jeremy Leong, Jit, ZR, Nat and Celine. Sitting around and talking about life, and the movie that was screened earlier in the camp. Things started to get more personal, when some of us in the group admitted that they were spiritually dry. They couldn't reach God, as if their lines to God were cut. A dry spell for one, and a lack of ability to focus on Him for the other, so David began to talk to us about it.
Now, I've never been actually consciously been used by God. But everything changed that night, when I felt a tug in me to go grab the guitar. We went over to the opposite room, where we began to talk about it and began to pray.
Prayer is a powerful thing, I have come to realise. During the praying, I just let myself fall, again, into the grace of Jesus Christ... And then I had a vision.
Don't laugh. It soudns cliche, but I had it. I saw the rest of them, fearfully gathered together, eyes closed, hands raised, and praying so hard.
And then the word "spiritually" came to my mind.
At first, I didn't really think much of it, because I never imagined any of the things my head conjured would ever be a real, true vision.
But I was wrong. It wasn't conjured by me, I'm sure. I believe that the Holy Spirit was at work that night.
The prayer was strong, and the Spirit was definitely present. Leading the group of us into worship and prayer, I was so, so touched by the Spirit, refreshed even. But even after we prayed and sang some worship songs, we opened our eyes to find two pairs opened wide. They shared that they were... Afraid. While one of them saw flashes of many pictures and scenes and images, none of them related in any way, the other felt and presence, something watching us, and voices in his head. They still couldn't focus; still couldn't reach God.
As if something was there blocking them. It became more and more tangible the more we talked about it.
We began to talk about it. David tried his best to show them that God was still in control, but that didn't change a thing.
And the fear began it's work. We were all afraid, of the possibility of being under a spiritual siege. Fear crept into us, and we began to feel the atmosphere tense up. It was as though we were caught in the midst of a battle.
Soon Jit joined us, and after understanding what he'd just woke up to, he too was somewhat fearful.
Then, we called Mavis, and asked her for advice. She told us that the fear was eating us all up, and that we should pray and go to bed. She was quite right.
So there and then, we began to pray. All of us. Nobody dared to falter, noone at all. The power of darkness was so real at that moment, and in that unexpected turn of events, we became warriors against it, crying out to God so desperately, for Him to set us free and lead us to victory.
So there we were, 4am in the morning, fighting profusely against the fear, the darkness and the doubt. David began to pray for Jeremy, while Jit, ZR and I prayed for the two girls. Our language of tongues just began to pour out, because we were all so afraid. We prayed for a pretty long time, and in no instance did we give up. Because we knew what we were up against.
And because deep down we knew our God was still, greater.
And I must say, the Spirit works in marvelous ways. GOD IS SO GOOD. Somebody give Him praise!
After our desperate prayer, we prayed for all those whose hearts had been so badly dominated by the fear, and began to speak in tongues once more. That night, God definitely heard our cries, and when we opened our eyes, the room looked brighter. The fear was gone, and the Holy Spirit was definitely there.
Definitely.
We all felt light, liberated, free and tingly all over :D It was the most amazing feeling. EVER.
And then it hit me. Everything in this camp that happened; the "going back to fundamentals", the sermons about belief, about being lukewarm, the unplanned borrowing of Daryl's guitar for the night, the devotion about Acts 27 where Paul envisioned the shipwreck, my unexpected vision about the night's happenings... It all made sense. As though it was aligned. Like a divine appointment. God had used that opportunity to teach us something. To draw us back to Him, to pray hard for Him to come and fill us again, so that the evil one would be rendered powerless.
Everything made perfect sense. God. Is. So. AWESOME.
This is a snippet from Saint Celine's blog:
"After around 15 to 20mins, the fear went away, i started being able to focus and Leong wasn’t confused and all anymore. Nat wasn’t that afraid already and we all felt extremely peaceful. I could feel the presence of God, there was this tingly feeling all over me. We then sat down to talk and Justin shared that he had envisioned this scene taking place before it actually took place, like how in Acts 27 Paul envisioned the shipwreck taking place. We talked about how we felt and how amazing God was, that this experience was all pre-planned, a divine appointment. We had even borrowed the guitar from Daryl for fun, having no intent of using it and not knowing that we would need it. We had gone from talking crap in the middle of the night to experiencing God in a different measure altogether. What can i say, God works in his own special way(: It was a totally unforgettable experience, and i thank God for it.
This camp brought me and my friends closer together, tightening the bond we had between us. I also have super alot of respect to David now, handling the situation on Friday night so well. If i were him, i wouldn’t have been able to stay so calm. This camp was an awesome time of meeting God, getting away to unwind and growing closer to my friends. Youth camp 2011 — Live like you believe. (:"
I have never been used so powerfully by God in my entire LIFE. Never imagined that I, the worst of sinners, would be able to lead and pray for His people.
God I love You so much right now (Y)
